Konszekutív tolmácsolás

A konszekutív tolmácsolást általában megbeszéléseken, konferenciákon, rendezvényeken, kiállításokon stb. szokták alkalmazni, ahol a tolmács a felszólaló beszédét gondolati egységenként, azokat követően közvetíti a célnyelven. Amennyiben több mint egy célnyelvvel kell dolgozni, nem célszerű ezt a formát választani, ugyanis az egymást követő nyelvek túlságosan megtörik a beszédet.

A konszekutív tolmácsolás a tárgyalásokon, megbeszéléseken is használható: itt a párbeszéd jellegéből adódóan az ún. rövid szakaszos konszekutív tolmácsolás a leghatékonyabb.

Előnye, hogy olcsóbb, mint a szinkrontolmácsolás, ugyanis nyelvpáronként egy tolmács végzi és nincs szükség technikára. Hátránya, hogy lassítja a kommunikációt, és megtöri a beszélő gondolkodását.
